Russia Invaded Ukraine
Still a bit surprising even considering Biden’s imperialistic insistence on pushing NATO to the east. An avoidable war. It will lead to the old Cold War that most thought was in the past but promoted by weapons manufacturers and Wall Street. A bonanza for them. Biden is in deep trouble. Polls, for what they’re worth, show that most don’t want either Biden or Trump to run on their party’s ticket.

Retiling Bathroom Floor
It began with a ner-do-well inspiration a couple months ago. It was like Napoleon and Hitler becoming bogged down with the onset of the Russian winter. The tiles by the toilet were corroded and falling apart, the inspiration for the project. Using a band aid approach, I tried tearing out the worst parts and then placing new tiles over them. The bogging down began with attempting to make the new sections all at the same level. Close but a muck up in appearance and attempts. I asked my neighbor, Hyland, to appraise the situation. Tear them out and go down to the cement. This was tedious but preferable to the mess I was making of my repair job. He’s going to lay down ceramics, cheap ones, but I’m sure it will look good. The cheap doesn’t matter mostly because I’m convinced the landlord is fixing up the place, including new windows, with the aim of selling the property.

WQXR
After years of searching and lots of trial and error, Sandi discovered this NYC classical station. It’s just what I’ve been looking for except that it exceeds my expectations. They’re all about music. No pretentions, unashamed. BUR in Boston is kind of “Hey, this is Boston. We’re cultured. We’re cool. It wears culture like a showy badge. NY indulges itself like a child in a pool of music.

There’s an effect on me from listening to this station. It brings back, reforms, a mental world of appraisal that had disintegrated from a lack of immersion in the endless varieties of classical music. And I have a feeling of being, no exaggeration, younger, even youthful as that’s when the irrational and delicious sense of musical presence inspired much of my thinking. I’m in love.

Civilization VI
It was bound to happen. I purchased in on sale for $8. With the frustration of the tile job, the lack of money from paying Sandi and dropping nearly a hundred bucks to the VA to bring me up to date on prescription charges, my hillbilly criminal neighbor committing deceitful, downright mean acts, all coupled with the loss of animal friends, I had to have a way to carry my mind into a non-productive drone. Civ VI is the way into that state.

The third day in getting the hang of the game, quite different from Civ IV, my last binge game, I began playing at one in the afternoon and did so for the next 16 hours. At around three a.m. I was sipping brandy in tea with a background of gorgeous classical stuff from QXR. It was a high that otherwise only comes from drugs. A couple weeks later, I’m still binging over a period of hours in this activity. I even took it to Sandi’s and played it during last weekend. The difference with this game-storm is that I’m becoming a wee bit bored. And, I have an idea for a novella taking place in Junction using the interaction of several characters to develop the plot.

And it’s early March. The cooler weather periods are moderating up about 5 to 10 degrees. Beautiful but portentous. A stab of global warming: One day a couple weeks back, the time of year when Medieval peasants were freezing to death, the temperature reached 87 degrees.
